With the explosion of the Internet, data files are often sent between Macintosh and PC computers as attachments to e-mail messages. In such a case, the first problem for the PC user is that many mail programs don't send plain files, but BinHex or MacBinary containers. Those containers must be recognized as such and handled correctly.
MacMail is meant to solve some of these problems.
